  Embelin hard candy lozenges were formulated to provide a slow release of the medicament for the treatment of bronchitis. It helps to make breathing easier by means of relaxing and opening air passage in the lungs. The local acting mechanism of embelin makes it more suitable to formulate as lozenges. This research is to develop a new dosage form of embelininto hard candy lozenges and their pharmaceutical standardization. The extraction of embelin from Embelia ribes, formulation of lozenges, processing procedure with extract-based herbal formulation, andexpansion for analytical standardization including qualitative and quantitative determinations were carried out.
